Earbuds and Marketing Hype

When I was first getting familiar with the various “i” devices, I found I could get spare earbuds for as little as 99 cents. Less than a buck. I enclosed several sets of those cheap earbuds in the odd emergency electrical kits I put together — earbuds, cords, wires, paper clips, 2 prong to 3 prong outlet plug. Just stuff.

Not much is less than a dollar, these days.

Which made me even more curious about Dr. Dre’s specially formulated earbuds. Gold plated (looking). With super-tuned bass response and unparalleled range.
