Preparations

The ability to learn from the mistakes of others is — according to some — a hallmark of higher learning.

Let’s say, for example, hypothetical, a government agency, maybe just a state-run agency, in a fit pique, and with an eye to short-term profit? Let’s say that caused power outages when severe weather hit.

Winter 2021: snovid!

I learned three things.

  1. Need a way to make hot coffee.
  2. Need to make sure batteries are charged.
  3. Replace flashlight bulbs with LED bulbs.

Weather forecast was for possible severe weather, no way to boil water, but I ran around and made sure the half-dozen various battery-packs I’ve got? Each one was drained, topped off, and ready.

The flashlights? Already did that.

Coffee. Hot coffee in emergency conditions. Need to figure that one out.

Preparations
