The monthly hosting (marketing) newsletter included a pitch about “How to make money off your website,” and I clicked through, see if there was anything new.
There wasn’t.
- Affiliate Marketing
Actually, I do that, my site is an amazon affiliate, but the net results don’t cover the cost of hosting, yet they do answer my internal capitalist’s ideal. - Premium Content (membership)
Did that for a few years, but the cost of the overhead, installing, maintaining, and supervising the infrastructure on the site, plus the sheer volume of hate mail? - Google Ads
Got bounced. - Sponsored Posts
No. Just, no. I write everything.

That’s an idea, like 99-cent books. - Create an online course

Still, the idea the e-mail floated was about how to monetize a website, and what I’ve discovered, even with a steady flow of traffic, the old ways work best.
