Mr Texas

Mr Texas

Satire. Wicked humor. Trenchant wit? Or fiction that is barely fiction?

“Politics is a rough game. Good sportsmanship is not a part of it and there’s no prize for losing.” Page 116.

Out of the mouth of a loser.

“Dan Patrick has done more harm to Texas than any politician in modern times.” Page 152.

True. My rallying call? Can we go one day without being a national embarrassment?

“Gun laws were abolished, along with abortion. School libraries were purged of controversial books and teachers were put on a leash. It was surprisingly easy to turn back the clock when there was so much money to spread around.” Page 257.

God bless Texas?

“Outdoor events in Houston were a risk, given the smothering humidity during eight months of the year, and the city’s susceptibility to extreme weather events, including tornados, hail the size of softballs, floods, everything short of volcanos. The fact that the city was still inhabited was a testament to something or other.” Page 397.

More truth than fiction.

”It is hard to write about Texas without straining credulity.” (Author’s Afterword.)

Wickedly funny book. Too close to truth?
