Shutter

Shutter was recommended from a linked list of reading material, new book, new release, native author, and then, looking the author up before I got the book? Albuquerque, NM. She was a forensic photographer with the cop shop for years. Then started writing.

There’s something about the nature of the land, its people, and the stories, automatically lends itself to magical realism, or something that is adjacent to that category. See the horoscope for Aries 4/23/2024.

“The new generation lived without the ingrained commitment to look out for one another, to be a part of the community.” Page 164.

Navajo protagonist.

“Frontier was famous for its gigantic breakfast burritos that you could smother in their super spicy green chili salsa, and hot, heavily buttered cinnamon rolls that were bigger than your face.” Page 195.

Love real Albuquerque flavor. I know it’s there, or was, just don’t recall ever eating there.

I hope this is the start of a series.
