Single Page Horoscopes
And more, much more.
Single Page Horoscopes
Credited to Shakespeare, “brevity is the soul of wit,” long-winded Polonius in Hamlet, and pursuant to social media post about a student’s ability to produce a single-page document? I took it upon myself to see if I could get the horoscopes themselves down to a single page — again.
Toiling away in the student barrio of old East Austin, my original ’zine version of horoscopes, I wrote to fit on the page, a single page. One editor chastised me, suggesting I should write for content, concept, and meaning, then fit it to the page. Back in the olden times, my way worked, the earliest of the scopes, 1993 or so, show this.
They are bit uneven, but I was fitting 12 signs into a three column layout on a single page.
Don’t think I have any extant copies of the old material, just the digital files that later became part of the horoscope archives, as noted above.
Single Page Horoscopes
Think I wrote about this before, but there was a service that “hardened” a website, like, turned each webpage, dynamically rendered ‘html’ into a universal PDF doc, then stuck that doc at the end of the url. Nice idea, universal, probably more timely than anything I’ve got, but the problem being? Another layer of complexity.
Each layer of complexity adds more room for errors, problems, or pieces and parts that break.
Single Page Horoscopes
In a fit of pique? I tried to compress one of the December horoscopes as a single page. Didn’t work out, weighing in at 10 pages, in current format.

If I only had more time, I could probably make it more concise.
