There’s a quixotic absurdist humor. Dry in wit? No, wit: both wet and dry.

Trying to get a handle on this, the recommendation, the book algorithm, popped up a previous novel, for me, a weird and wonderful used bookstore find, The Rivers of London.

I have a long-standing, occasional love affair with British surrealistic comedic fantasy speculative fiction. Running gags, in-jokes, monsters under the bed? All of that. Looks like there are a half-dozen books in this series, at least so far, and I’ll see how that goes, but the first? Certainly was fun.
