Murder Takes a Vacation

Murder Takes a Vacation

Pandemic library reading taught me to adore Laura Lippmann and her Baltimore, plus her other works. We ding through a library copy of her recent release, Murder Takes a Vacation, I caught a hint, a whiff, a taste that her novels aren’t just good in themselves, but there’s gradual teaching point about how to write.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it? Still, there are subtle coaching hints, and laughing at one’s self.

In a way, it approaches the “agiest” questions and relative prejudice. But also gently turns a simple “whodunnit” into complex, almost closed-room query.

Fun stuff. Really tightly put together. Seems light and breezy, and yet?
