Shakespeare Geek

I tend to think of myself as a Shakespeare Fan Boy (fanboi). Not a full scholar, but more than an occasional student. I answered this question once when an old High School teacher found me on FB and asked when I learned to like Shakespeare. I was reading Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida for my undergrad, and I loved the black comedy I found in that play. Usually reads better than it does on stage, in my eyes.

Answer to questions:

  1. Shakespeare enriching life
  2. (Auto) Bio
(but I never thought I was Shakespeare in a past life)

I found Shakespeare Geek when I was looking for new Shakespeare stuff, something that wasn’t too professional, and but more than just summer stock.

For the love of the bard?

The podcast Chop Bard — highly recommended — helps. But one of my current great sources is a little known summer program at University of Texas, Shakespeare at Winedale. They do three plays in rep each summer, and it’s all students, with varying abilities, but there are some truly stellar productions.

Timely Recollection I pulled Shakespeare Geek into my feeds so I could have that “pro-am” touch. It’s for the love of language, the show, the text, just, you know, enjoyable stuff.

Oh yeah, I’ve been writing a weekly horoscope for 30 years, and I tend to introduce each week with a quote from Shakespeare.
