I’m not much of a biblical scholar. However, to a point, a sitting across from a retired military officer, I dryly pointed out that I carry both the King James Bible and a copy of the Koran as literary reference points.

Proverbial politics is just a quick passage from that King James Bible. A snapshot of behavior suggestions. Suggestions that lead to longer happier life.

When I reread the post, I was struck by an amazing similarity, analogous to another staple of the new age group: The Four Agreements.

Rules and Guidelines

Currently, I tend to favor an old army buddy’s suggestions, one, that Shakespeare is a safe, secular canon to quote, and two, Meditations from pagan stoic Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius is equally safe.

One buddy claimed Marcus Aurelius was Christian.
