The Librarians

The Librarians

The ad copy about Austin and librarians tricked me, like it should. Of note, the Austin I came of age in is no longer there, although to be sure, there are occasional vestiges old Austin around. Makes me a little leery when a novel is going to be set in Austin, and in the words of the late, great Doug Sahm?

“Austin’s getting so crowded, you have to go to San Antonio to get a decent enchilada.”

But that was then. As far as sense of place? I was leery of the notion of a non-native setting novel in Austin and its environs, but there was just enough authenticity to hold up.

The Librarians

Great premise that librarians could, and would tackle a murder-mayhem story, with a backdrop of failed romances and intrigue along the way. Deftly weaves in current issues. One review suggested the author’s writing was “lush,” and I would agree, as apt a description as any.

Fun book. Highly recommended.
