The Odyssey by Homer
Current cinema, well, it is what it is. However, as a film itself, I rather enjoyed the experience, with a long, afterthought look at the underpinnings of the original story itself, from whence it came, and the last time I read it?
Didn’t quite get the same cinematic experience that the screen delivered.
The set-up and introduction bogged down, but in part, that was belabored by the new and odious ordering system at the Alamo Drafthouse. Used to be, remember, I go way back to the original in Austin over a salsa bar, used to be fun, an experience. Now, I’m just adjusting my reading glasses and trying to see what the pizza order is on the phone.
Heroic, improbable, and yet, I kept thinking, didn’t a Gentleman German scientific explorer find the original Troy?
In theaters now. Worth the price of a matinee ticket, for sure.
